Should any of our professional-grade modeling products not meet your exacting standards, our returns policy is designed with the same precision we apply to our photo etch parts and metal detailing components.
Eligibility for Returns & Exchanges
To qualify for return or exchange:
- Items must be in original, unopened packaging with all seals intact
- Request must be initiated within 15 days of delivery
- Original receipt or order confirmation must be provided
Non-Returnable Items
Due to the delicate nature of certain components, we cannot accept returns on:
- Opened decals (including Mecha Decals and standard Decals)
- Custom-cut items (D.U.A. Detail Parts, OS Photo Etch Parts)
- Electronic components (LED systems, LED Accessories)
- Photo Etch Detail Kits with broken seals
Step-by-Step Return Process
Step 1: Initiate Your Request
Email our support team at [email protected] with the subject line “RETURN REQUEST” and include:
- Your order number
- Product name(s) and quantity
- Reason for return
- Whether you prefer refund or exchange
Step 2: Receive Authorization
Our modeling specialists will respond within 2 business days with:
- Return authorization number
- Shipping instructions
- Any special packaging requirements for delicate components
Step 3: Ship Your Return
Package items securely using the original packaging whenever possible. For fragile components like Kotobukiya Detail Parts or Dome/Lens items:
- Use ample cushioning material
- Mark package “Fragile – Model Components”
- Include the return authorization number inside the package
Step 4: Processing Your Return
Upon receipt at our New Berlin facility, our quality team will inspect items within 3 business days. You will receive email notification of:
- Approval status
- Refund initiation or exchange shipment details
- Any exceptions noted
Refund Timeline & Methods
Approved refunds are processed within 5 business days of inspection completion:
- Credit Card Payments: Refunded to original card (appears in 3-10 business days depending on issuer)
- PayPal Payments: Refunded to your PayPal account within 24 hours
- Bank Transfers: Processed within 5-7 business days
Exchange Process
For exchanges of comparable items (e.g., different size springs or pipe/tube components):
- Follow standard return process indicating “Exchange” preference
- We’ll ship replacement items via your original shipping method
- No additional shipping charges unless upgrading to expedited service
International Returns
For customers outside the U.S.:
- Return shipping costs are the customer’s responsibility
- Mark customs forms as “Returned Goods” to avoid duties
- Allow additional 5-7 days for international processing
Damaged or Incorrect Items
If you receive damaged HiqParts or incorrect Metal Detail Parts:
- Photograph the issue within 48 hours of delivery
- Email images to [email protected] with “DAMAGED ITEM” in subject
- We’ll prioritize replacement shipping for in-stock items
